2014 Kawanishi Tour Schedule Summary

Detailed schedules and run sheet have been provided to Host Families and Day Managers.

 

• Day 1: Saturday 26th July 2014. Day manager Kevin Pringle

Arrival (11.05am pick up from airport by host families)

Rugby 2.30 warm-up for 3pm game against 2013 year tourists at Tryon Oval

Welcome Function - Gordon Golf Club (6.30pm). Bookings essential

 

•      Day 2: Sunday 27th July 2014. Day manager Brant James

11am drop off by host families at Sydney Olympic Park, Swimming

2.45pm Watch Rugby League Match between Balmain and St George at Homebush stadium

NOTE: we have 50 extra tickets to this game – please contact Virginia Thompson if you would like to join in the afternoon activities  (Virginia@humanpriority.com.au)

5.45pm Host families collect from Bert Oldfield, Killara

Free evening with host families

 

•      Day 3: Monday 28th July 2014. Day manager Jon Gill

Arrive Lindfield station 8am. Guided Walking Tour across Harbour Bridge and Rocks area

Jet boat ride on Sydney Harbour and packed lunch at Opera House

Visit to Newington College to play Rugby and post match function

5pm pickup by host family from Lindfield station

7pm Bus leaves Lindfield for President’s dinner, 7.30pm at Hokkaido Restaurant in the city. Bookings essential

 

•      Day 4: Tuesday  29th July 2014. Day manager Kirsten Johns

City/Bondi Red Bus Tour & Shopping Day at Paddy’s Markets/Darling Harbour

Leave from Lindfield station at 8.30am return 4pm for collection by host family

Free time in evening (might be a good night to catch-up with past touring families)

 

•      Day 5: Wednesday 30st July. Day manager Jon Gill

7am depart Bert Oldfield Killara for Trip to Bathurst via Blue Mountains, Scenic World and Jenolan caves

6pm Rugby match in Bathurst against the Bathurst Bulldogs

Children billeted to Bathurst families and adults stay at Knickerbocker Hotel

Free time in evening

 

•      Day 6: Thursday 31st . Day manager Jon Gill

8am bus departure for Mount Panorama and Govetts Leap

Picnic lunch at Featherdale Wildlife Park

4pm Bus arrives back in Bert Oldfield Killara for host family collection

 

•      Day 7: Friday  1st August. Day manager David Pozzecco

Arrive Lindfield Station at 7.55am for day at Manly Beach

Train to Wynyard and Ferry to Manly

Adults lunch at The Bower Restaurant

Kids participate in Manly SLSC activities on the beach and fish & chips

Ferry and Train back to Lindfield station by 4.30 for collection by Host Family

Rugby at Tryon oval from 5.30pm for game Kawanishi vs Lindfield u10/11 composite 7pm. Award ceremony bar and BBQ at Tryon

 

•      Day 8: Saturday 2nd August: Day managers Danielle Pringle and Virginia Thompson

Morning free time with host family

Drop off 1pm by Host Family at St Ignatius College Riverview School

Tour of the school and BBQ lunch

Watch schoolboy rugby match between Riverview and Scots

Host families collect from Riverview at 5pm

Free time in evening

 

•      Day 9: Sunday 3rd August. Day manager Mark Tunnicliffe

Arrive 11am for Rugby Gala Day at Tryon.  5 visiting teams play 4 ‘Barbarian’ Lindfield-Kawanishi teams

4.30pm Farewell dinner at Tryon

 

•      Day 10 : Monday 4th August. Day manager Kevin Pringle

Families to the airport (early 5 am time tbc)

 

Useful information:

• Bookings for Welcome function and Presidents dinner close Tuesday 22nd July. Details are on the club website, or contact us.

• 15 Kawanishi boys on tour

• 16 Adults ( 10 Mums and 6 Dads)

• 14 Host families

• Kawanishi team play 4 games of rugby prior to the Gala day then 5 games during the gala day.
